Sport should always be as inclusive as possible, and it has been fabulous to see, in recent years, disability sport growing significantly. Flyerz Hockey is the term used to positively describe disability hockey in England, and a series of upcoming workshops is another sign of its growth.

Access Sport’s Ignite Disability Inclusion Programme has partnered with England Hockey to host National Flyerz workshops this September 2018. At present there are 15 Flyerz sections across the country, and the number is steadily growing.

Thanks to funding from the excellent Spirit of 2012, an additional 50 clubs will be able to launch Flyerz Hockey over the next 3 years – and these workshops can be the starting point for clubs to learn more about joining the Flyerz movement.

Flyerz Hockey Workshops

The workshops are two hours long and provide a comprehensive introduction to Flyerz, the future of Flyerz plus practical advice and a range of resources. The workshops are open to club coaches, volunteers and players interested in learning more about inclusivity within hockey.

Attending a workshop and learning more about inclusive hockey provides an opportunity to join the Flyerz movement and be part of positive social change to inspire individuals and communities through the sport of hockey.

Initial locations and dates:

  • Firebrands Hockey Club, Bristol, BS8 3TL Tuesday 18th September 7pm
  • Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, London Thursday 20thth September 7pm
