We’re not shy of extolling the virtues of volunteering in sport – it’s a fantastic way to boost self-esteem, to get involved in something positive and community-minded, to be in and around sport, and it may even lead to actual participation in sport. Volunteers Week (June 1-7) will see tons of events and celebrations to salute the amazing contribution volunteers make.

Follow the hashtag on social media

The week will throw up inspiring volunteers’ stories, free downloadable resources to help you celebrate, and also ways to get involved.

You can follow the celebration on Twitter and Instagram using the #VolunteersWeek hashtag – share your own pictures to get involved.

You don’t have to be a volunteer to get involved, of course. You might be a participant in grassroots sport wishing to thank the volunteers at your club – so take a moment to remember each and every one of them, and how your club could not function without them. Volunteers make tremendous sacrifices to make sport happen, and this week is a small token of our gratitude and appreciation for the time and effort they put in.
