A host of community groups across the country, that use sport to get people active and improve wellbeing, are set to benefit from a National Lottery windfall of £2m.

Funding is coming to a project near you

Groups such as Sport in Mind, Good Gym, Active Norfolk, Greater Sport and many more will benefit from substantial financial injections. Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, the 18 organisations will be able to explore how to help people keep their activity habits or find new ones.

Sport in Mind is a charity that which works in partnership with the NHS, and will receive more than £800,000 to deliver innovative sports programmes to help people experiencing mental health problems. Sport in Mind does crucial work and has helped over 10,000 people and counting, and the charity will use the funding to deliver projects across the south east – including 100 areas that are among the most deprived in England.

The organisations set to benefit span the country, and there’s sure to be a project near you. Funding for the Good Gym is expected to be rolled out in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle and Liverpool, while the other 17 organisations cover Devon to Tyneside.
