We love to keep up with how clubs and teams wearing KUDOS kit are getting on, and it’s always great to see them win.

There are some fine players in club cricket and that was demonstrated once again when the KUDOS-clad OCA (Oxfordshire Cricket Association) League representative XI took on their opposite numbers from the Cherwell League.

Inter-league contests bring together the finest players from those respective leagues and the Cherwell side – representing a league that features teams from Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire – racked up a pretty healthy 227-5 from their 40 overs. That total included a fine second wicket stand of 131 between Ollie Tice of Westbury (56 off 56 balls) and Long Marston’s Jeremy Smith, who fell agonisingly short of his ton with a brisk 97 from 89 balls.

A late flourish from Dave Eaton – who creamed an unbeaten 38 off just 22 deliveries – saw the Cherwell League XI close on 227.

In the OCA reply Jack Mulford (35) and Billy Webb shared 100 for the second wicket before wickets began to tumble. Webb, however, was not to be moved and he brought up his hundred in 97 balls.

An unbroken seventh-wicket partnership of 31 between Webb and Ian Johnston (Charlbury) secured OCA victory by four wickets and with just eight balls to spare.

OCA had Billy Webb to thank for his brilliant hundred, while Cherwell League skipper Mike Dove was magnanimous in defeat.

It was a fantastic game. A great advert for Cherwell and OCA League cricket and proves there a lot of really good cricketers in Oxfordshire. Cherwell league XI captain Mike Dove
