Sometimes to get into running you need a trigger that is a bit more interesting and fun than merely climbing off your sofa and running around the streets in your neighbourhood. Jess Ennis-Hill’s VitalityMove running festival is exactly that, and the first of two superb days takes place this weekend.

Music, fun and fitness

VitalityMove is essentially a big family day out, combining Jessica Ennis-Hill’s passion for running and music. The festivals – held at the stunning Chatsworth House and Windsor Great Park – host runs at 5k and 10k, as well as the chance to take part in an unlimited number of 1-mile ‘Music Miles’ – with mixes developed by Jessica and legendary DJ Trevor Nelson.

You also get a say in what music you’d like to hear as you run around the flat 1-mile course – and organisers promise you won’t be judged! Entry for under 16s is completely free – a great way to get your children into running… and maybe you could let them choose a modern track to spare your ABBA-related blushes.

There will be a sports zone with sporting activities running throughout the day, an entertainment hub with DJ Trevor Nelson leading the day’s entertainment and a food village where you can fuel your day with something nutritious.

The first event takes place this Sunday (9th July) at the iconic Chatsworth House in the Peak District National Park, with the date for the later event in Windsor still to be confirmed.

There’s tons more info on the website – take a look and head over to Chatsworth this weekend.

I have been so lucky to have got so much out of my sport – not only a career but a lifestyle. Fitness really can be enjoyable and I have teamed up with Vitality to share my passion for running and music and how the two together can make exercise fun.

We have created VitalityMove – a big day out with music and running at its heart. There will be lots of great things for families and committed runners to get involved with from 1 mile fun-runs, family relays to the more traditional 5k and 10k distances – all themed to music designed to keep you moving by DJ Trevor Nelson. Our venues are iconic; Chatsworth House and Windsor Great Park – both stunning backdrops for the event. Whether you are a first time runner or a seasoned athlete we will cater for you – and hopefully make it a day to remember.

I hope you will sign up and enjoy the journey to the events with me! Jess Ennis-Hill
