Following on from the successes of the last two Women’s FA Cup finals – which were held at Wembley for the first time – the Football Association has announced that this year’s final will take place under the famous Wembley arches once more. And like last year, kids go FREE.

An affordable opportunity to take the family to a big Cup final

We think it’s high time women’s football was opened up to the wider audience it deserves. For this to happen the game needs to rally round and come up with creative ideas and initiatives that widens the game’s reach, but a very simple and effective idea is to allow kids free entry to big games. The showpiece of the women’s football calendar is the ideal occasion on which to showcase the game to youngsters, and with adult tickets priced at just £15 it makes it an affordable opportunity to take the family to a big match. Group rates are also available of £7.50 for adults and £2.50 concessions.

The game takes place on Saturday 14th May, a week before the men’s final. Over 32,000 fans attended last year’s final between Arsenal and Chelsea, a record for the Women’s FA Cup and a record the FA is aiming to break again in 2017.

Birmingham City v Manchester City

The Final will be contested by Birmingham City Ladies and Manchester City Women in what is sure to be a exciting game and a great occasion for women’s football.

Kelly Simmons, FA director of football participation and development, said:

It was very important to secure Wembley again for The Final so that we can continue building the momentum around the growth of the Cup and the women’s game in this country.

That growth of the women’s game is currently being aided by a bold new strategy to double the amount of girls and women participating in football by the year 2020. Nearly half of the crowd at last year’s final were children, giving the women’s game fantastic exposure to future generations. Women’s football is on a bit of a roll at the moment, and it is important the momentum is maintained.

So, why not be a part of the biggest women’s domestic match of the year at the home football and play your part in growing women’s football in this country.
