It may feel like we’re halfway through the summer – indeed the nights are already slowly drawing in – but with schools around the country breaking up for their epic summer holidays, parents everywhere will be looking for ways to keep their kids entertained for the next six weeks or so. One of the best means of childcare is a summer sports camp, and so here are four of our favourite hockey camps taking place in the UK this summer.

You don’t have to be a keen hockey player to get involved – all of these camps are open to kids of all abilities and experience. The camps are a great way to make new friends, to get active and keep fit, as well as learning new sporting skills or develop existing skills.

All of these camps are manned by fully qualified, CRB-checked coaches.

Summer Hockey Camp, Cardiff

If you’re in South Wales, the Summer Hockey Camp held at Cardiff Metropolitan University could be for you. A three day affair, held between 2nd – 4th August, the camp is open to kids of all abilities aged between 7 and 16. The kids will be coached by dedicated and enthusiastic coaches and current national and international athletes from Cardiff & Met Hockey Cub and Wales. While the sessions are research-informed and geared around player development, there is also plenty of fun to be had and prizes to be won. To book a place call 02920 416777 or click here.

Grays Hockey Masterclass, nationwide

The Grays Hockey Masterclass is a nationwide hockey coaching course for both girls and boys aged 7 to 16 years of age. The courses have been tailored specifically to deliver all aspects of hockey, ideal for players of any level whether just starting out or a potential star. The sessions runs daily from 9.30am to 4.30pm and while there’s plenty of hockey coaching, the sessions also take in activities such as arts and crafts activities, using hockey as the inspiration, plus competitions giving away prizes, certificates and more.
