Aspiring grassroots footballers from two underrepresented groups are being given new opportunities to play thanks to funding from the Grow the Game programme, a £1.5m investment by The FA. The Football Foundation – as part of its excellent Grow the Game scheme – is to provide grants of up to £1,500 for the creation of new female and disability football teams.

Applications will be taken from existing football clubs looking to create new teams, as well as futsal clubs, youth clubs with a football programme, community groups, charitable organisations and local authorities. The new teams must be female teams – from under 7s through to adult – or disability teams.

Kudos will give 10% off all kit orders for newly-created teams

Creating new teams comes at a cost, and the grant will cover those essential costs, including facility hire, coaching courses, the hiring of fully qualified coaches, and of course football kit. Successful applications will receive a grant of £1,500 per new team created over two or three years with reduced financial support offered in the second and third years of the project.

To supplement the funding, KUDOS will give any newly-created women’s, girls’ or disability teams 10% off all kit orders. If your application is successful, why not play around with the KUDOS one minute kit designer and come up with a great new kit for your new team?

England Men’s Senior Manager and Football Foundation ambassador Gareth Southgate said:

I am delighted that the Grow the Game programme is back. It means the pool of players in this country continues to widen, unearthing talent from all backgrounds in the process. gareth southgate, england manager

Applications that originate from, or provide for, underrepresented communities are being encouraged. The application window is now open and closes on Thursday 29 March.
