Are you a hockey coach who wants to further develop your coaching skills and credentials? If so, GB Hockey’s new and pioneering Advanced Coaching Programme might be for you.

What is the Advanced Coaching Programme?

The Advanced Coach Programme is a two year development programme for any current and active coaches who want to advance their coaching for the benefit of their players and the sport. Coaches will need to be committed and open to personal development, open to feedback, keen to learn and interested in applying the GB Coaching philosophy in their sessions. The programme not only replaces the previous UKCC Level 3 but goes above and beyond the previous qualification. As such, you must have at least a Level 2, Sessional or Coach qualification to be eligible to join the programme. It is also suitable for coaches who have completed or are in the process of completing the previous UKCC Level 3.

A Revitalised Way of Learning

Research has shown that the formal learning courses are not the preferred method of learning for many and that coaches feel that these traditional approaches to development have a limited impact. That research also revealed most coaches prefer to learn through communities of practice, peer interaction, mentoring, observation (informal learning) and environment specific workshops – all methods integrated into this programme.

It is a two-year challenge for a limited number of coaches offering structured development and learning that will stretch and develop them as coaches. This is not about gaining token certificates – it is focused on improving coaching, growing more effective coaches, instilling a culture of continuous improvement. You will also forge long term coaching connections within hockey through its ongoing mentoring and support networks.

Applications close 31 March 2018 and you can apply here now.
